Many beginning and intermediate artist feel pressured or compelled to buy screen tablets, but many artists have built successful careers making thousands of dollars with pen tablets.
Wacom Intuos Pro
Wacom is the original brand for drawing tablets and the market leader in this category. The Intuos series is great for both portable use and at a desk. The Pro model is my preference due to the higher accuracy and the smoother drawing surface.

XP Pen
This budget option has really positive reviews. The software might be more problematic and the build quality might have issues the more expensive options might not but they are an excellent place to start if you donโt want to break the bank.
Wacom Intuos Bluetooth
This is a cheaper Wacom option compared to the Intuos Pro, but provides great value for its price point and has Bluetooth connectivity, making it great for traveling and doing digital art.
Huion Inspiroy
Another strong budget option that gives a new user an excellent starting place to experiment with digital art without committing too heavily.
Apple Pencil
If your iPad is compatible with an Apple Pencil or Apple Pencil 2, it is highly recommended that you buy one. The difference between conventional pointing devices and the Apple Pencil cannot be understated. It is an essential accessory to any modern iPad.
